How to Make Internet Phone Calls

Usually, at any time we want to make phone calls, we have to depend on land lines. basically, we are at the mercy of the telephone operators. Whatever rates they charge to our bill, we will have to pay. That as well means that we have to pay for making International phone calls. Frequently, the rates for making a telephone call overseas can be shocking. As an effect, many people tend to avoid making long international phone calls. How this works is that the Internet needs some kind of device to convert voice to data that is transferable over the Internet. The special device here is commonly known as the IP telephone. IP stands for Internet Protocol, and this is the protocol that is used for transferring data over the Internet. This phone is plugged into the personal computer or the laptop. Sometimes special software is needed to get the data from the IP telephone, convert it to data that is transferable over the IP protocol, and then send to the Internet. The Internet does its work, and the data is transferred to the other end - another person with the IP phone.

Similarly, the device at the other end converts this data back into voice data, and the user can hear what you are saying. As the whole process is about converting data to voice and voice to data, this technology is commonly known as Voice Over IP (VOIP). That means transferring of voice over using the IP protocol.
